Have you ever wondered what it was like for Moses or Nephi to hike up the mountain to listen to the words of the prophets? Well, yesterday some friends and I hiked up the mountain to listen to conference. It was a great experience. We found a great spot amongst trees with pink leaves and laid blanks out so we could eat lunch and listen at the same time. I wondered a few things as I was walking up the mountain. How was it for Moses who didn't have a pair of comfortable Nike's to walk up a steep lope with a lot of loose rocks and brush that scratches and pokes your skin. Yeah, I know it is a random thought but it put in perspective for me what people did to listen to the word of the Lord. I can count my blessing when I wake up at 9:55 am to turn on the T.V. just in time for the opening prayer before the Prophets portray to us what the Lord wants us to know. This was a great experience at the end of the week especially because this past week was so busy with tests and meetings with all the companies that came out for the career fair. I had to be at the top of my game all week long. I must say that the word of the Lord is worth a hike up the mountain, not just because it is a cool idea but for the experience of making the peaceful rest after the hike while you bask in the comfort of the word of the Lord.
